In Singapore, teachers ‘spoonfeed’ the students with lecture notes, supplementary work and answer keys.
But did you know, people even ‘spoonfeed’ the participants during tree-planting events. You don’t actually do the real tough work. It is prepared for you. The real workers shovel through that tough soil and then throw it back into the hole for you.
All you need to do is shovel once, and ta-da! you dug a hole!
Then the next step is to simply lift the young sampling tree and place it into the hole. then, cover the hole with some soil.
Congratulations! You have just planted a tree!
We take a lot of things for granted. We start to assume our privilege is our basic right. Sometimes, we simply forget how to work hard, and ask for the simple way out.
I want to dedicate this post to all the workers behind the scenes and to thank you for taking up the jobs with pride knowing that you are working hard. I shall aspire to do the same.
