Last weekend was a longer weekend than usual because Labor Day fell on a Monday, allowing us enough time for a short 3D2N getaway!
My family and I decided on a staycation at Studio M hotel! It was a really lovely place, and I absolutely adored the whole loft concept, plastered with long and tall windows, that are complemented by such simple and elegant decor that made the whole place…SO INSTAGRAMMABLE.

The soft bed was a very big plus point. I’m not even kidding. It was one of the comfiest hotel beds I’ve ever slept on and it was so, so soft :’) I was still in my exam period during the staycation, but I couldn’t resist the lure of the bed, gave up studying, and slept way earlier than my usual bedtime. (And I usually have very high levels of self-control.)
What I found out during check-in was that all the rooms are of the same size, and so the only difference that differentiated the room prices were dependent on the arrangement of the furniture and the amenities provided. I picked the most basic option, which I feel is quite worth it as than paying extra just for the addition of drinks in your fridge and a bathrobe etc. This means that all the toilets in each room are of the same size, smaller than your average toilet that you usually expect. Like, really enough room for just 1 person to maneuver. With small steps.
One icky thing that I was anxious about was the lack of ventilation, as the room was quite small and the windows couldn’t be opened. For lack of better words to cover up a human’s imperfection, once we fart in the room or poop in the toilet, the smell doesn’t really go away. And three people is no joke. HAHA.
However, what made up for this was a clean toilet, and adorable, high quality room service. Initially, they only gave us two sets of towels and bottled water. When they were cleaning the room, they figured that there were three guests in the room and provided us with three sets of the various amenities. Moreover, I found it super cute that they actually took an effort to arrange my snacks and my toiletries to one side. Adorbs.
Location-wise, I had mixed feelings about the hotel. It was somewhat in the middle, easy to get to other parts of town with just a few bus stops away, but at the same time inaccessible because we still had to walk quite a bit to get to those stops. We have to take public buses or the shuttle bus to get us into the heart of town, which was a bit troublesome.
We took bus 186 to get to Lau Pa Sat for dinner on the first day! Lau Pa Sat is well-known for its prawn satay and roadside stalls, but we ate seafood bbq. It was funny how three of us finished seven dishes in total, while the two angmohs sitting near us couldn’t finish three.
On the second day, we took bus 51 to get to Bugis! We tried out Wingzone and Gelare at Bugis+, and then headed to Arab Street/ Haji Lane to try out La Marelle Cafe and Victory Restaurant after catching Captain America: Civil War!!!! Civil war was so freaking good and it totally lived up to my expectations :’) Was so full by the end of the day.

(Although I have to say there was only one that was victorious *pun intended* in terms of taste and satisfaction)
