Concert was fiyaaahh! The whole set list, the lights, the people and the feels were so on point.

The band walked out first and headed to their spot all decked in black. Then in came Joel, looking all suave in the a white shirt under a denim jacket. (I swear, somehow half the crowd wore denim jackets ?!?! Was there a secret dress code that I unknowingly received?)

The moment he came out, he immediately broke down the barriers between him and his fans as he asked everyone to stand up and join him at the front of the stage.

He easily created the connection with his fans throughout the show, from singing together to looking up to the fans in the upper levels and having small mini heartfelt chats on stage.

He was cute (a bonus!), trying to explain why the previous show got cancelled and that he was thankful that we purchased the tickets again, shedding some tears along the way.

The songs he sang alternated between his first ep and his second, which had a mix of fast and slow songs in between, making us constantly on our feet.

The first song was Run Tell Daddy , and the light greeted him on stage with a bang! Till the end, the lights made the stage a star along with gentle bones!

My favourite moment was when he was doing an acoustic version of Settle down. The place was filled with lights in an instant all of a sudden. It truly felt magical, as it felt like Joel waa having a conversation with his fans after he shared that this was his favourite acoustic. And we simply replied with the lights.

1965, Geniuses & Thieves, Letting go were also crowd favourites, with soulful lyrics and deep electronic beats.

The room was filled with one whole amazing crowd who sang along to all of his songs. It is truly an amazing feat having a Singaporean musician receiving so much love from its people :’)

My other favourite moment was the encore, where he ended the show with the song that started it all, Until we die a heartful acoustic rendition, coupled with a soulful audience that sang our hearts out with him.

He also took some time down for an autograph session after the show, spending even more time with the fans up close.

I felt overwhelmed that it had all the right mix of what I envisioned a concert to be like. A band that delivers a heartfelt set, gets personal with their fans, and the audience dancing and singing along like there’s no tomorrow.

TGIG guys, thank god it’s gentle bones day!
