8-Day Bangkok Travel Guide: Shopping Spots, Fan Activities, and Sights

Day 6, Mon

With the trip nearing its end, Day 6 included involved our shopping and souvenirs list, and also unboxing my online buys!

Going LINE shopping

While planning the trip, I knew I wanted to buy some Thai brands for my fangirl heart, but they were only available online via LINE or Shopee. Basically you need a Thai address, and a Thai-based credit card/PayNow to be able to buy anything from the app. Was super grateful for my Thai friend for helping out with this!

I got some Butterbear merch (only available on LINE), BwB (a beauty brand by GotNattyDream), and Milkastudio (a bag shop co-owned by Mook Wooranit)! No regrets.

Here is my Bangkok shopping haul 2024 – Thai celebrities edition! Haul includes items by Love, GoyNattyDream, Arm, War, Mook, Off. Had always wanted to get these items but they are only sold in Thailand in select physical shops and/or Line/ShopeeTH/LazadaTH. #thaienthu #bkkshopping #shoppinghaul #olulo #bwb #milkastudio #awcstudio #twentywendy #gmmtv #thezoothailand #teamwangthailand

Also got a jersey tee by Thai dance crew, The Zoo, via IG, and they kindly arranged for a courier to send it to the hotel.

December’s a cool month for shopping

We went to December’s, located inside the Grand Diamond Plaza Suites Hotel. You can imagine the four-level storey shop like a mini Bugis Street of Bangkok. There were many small shops selling at wholesale price if you buy in bigger quanitities, but individual pieces were still reasonably priced.

They had elegant pieces, modern office wear, and casual clothes, all in reasonable sizes even if it was free size. The shops mainly focused on women’s clothing and accessories.

It was also interesting that there was not much repeat stalls (although you can find certain clothes at Platinum at a higher price), and unique designs with comfortable material. Was quite pleased with my purchases here.

The Platinum Fashion Mall

A stone’s throw away, the famous Platinum Mall is known to be a shopper’s paradise. As the largest wholesale and shopping destination, it has 6 levels of everything you can imagine. They have got clothes, shoes, accessories, bags, beauty products, household items, snacks, souvenirs, and even Labubu!

The more you buy, the cheaper it gets, and you can even bargain (I tried to in Thai, slay). There were lots of shops selling the same items, so check the material and prices for the best deal. The mall has prayer rooms and plenty of halal street food stalls lining the street.

Have no idea what goes on in the toilets at Platinum

Krungthong Plaza

Just across from Platinum, you’ll find Krungthong Plaza. Use the overhead bridge for easy access. It’s known for its affordable plus-size clothing ranging from S to 8 XL. The mall also offers tailoring services and traditional Thai attire. We only explored one level because we thought the designs were catered more towards the more senior audience, and featured more wacky prints.

There is a prayer room and a halal food stall in the mall.

Ratchaprasong Skyline Walk

Everything is within walking distance, with the help of pedestrian bridges to avoid the heavy Bangkok traffic. The R Walk (Ratchaprasong SkyWalk) is a bridge that connects you to various major malls, like Platinum, Big C, Centralw0rld, and Gaysorn Village. It offers pretty views of a serene park and the cityscape.

At night, the area lights up with vibrant colors, creating a lively atmosphere.

Big C Supercenter Ratchadamri

Big C has everything—from groceries and electronics to clothing and household items. It’s also great for snacks and souvenirs, especially dried fruits like mango, which are cheap and delicious to me, across any Big C in Thailand. There are halal snacks like jellies and prawn chips, and instant meal kits that were cheaper than buying it at duty-free.

Big C Supercenter at Ratchadamri felt like another huge shopping mall, with a postal service, hair salon, kids play area, cinema, food court, and more.

Just be warned though – Big C was crazy crowded and chaotic, even though we visited on a Monday afternoon. We had to take turns to explore the store. (You might want to check out the Big C at Asiatique instead.)

If you are up for even more shopping, take the R-Walk to CentralwOrld, which is apparently the ninth largest shopping complex in the world. My friend explored it, but I did not have the time, unfortunately.

Bangkok Traffic: Day 6 was also the first time experiencing THE bangkok traffic. We used Bolt to avoid carrying our buys through the walking crowd. The ride probably took about the same time if we walked back. Cater for x3 of estimated travel time.
