When you fear what you don’t know

2026 was truly a wonderful year of change, all thanks to Allah swt’s guidance.

Started a new job.

Made my heart full as I turned back to Him.

Removed my own barriers to rizq in an attempt to get more barakah to the best of my ability

And…embracing the beauty of hjiab.

It has been something I’ve been thinking about for quite a while now. The feeling for the hijab grew stronger, and it felt uncomfortable without a headgear on. Truly thankful to Ar-Rafeeq for being the most patient with me and guiding me and preparing me for what was a seamless transition.

I could feel myself intentionally choosing modest clothing, while noticing, with quiet admiration, strangers wearing the hijab – how pretty it looked, how strong they were to have committed to it, how it will feel like to please Allah swt. Besides the physical and emotional aspects, He also got me mentally prepared as I did research and took notes. He made sure I hold strongly to Him than worldly attachments. He also ensured my imaan was strong to handle the change.

Allah always had the better plans than I ever will. Hari Raya Aidilfitri was the start, and I have never felt better. People were always ready to help and answered my questions readily.

Honestly, those who say I am suddenly becoming more religious because of love (or jodoh) got it all wrong. This has always been my number one biggest inner battle, even if I never voiced it out. I’ve always sought to try to become better, understand more and hence I have been taking various classes as I was growing up. Yes, the pace has increased – but my life till now has only been a manifestation of what I have been wanting to do from the very beginning.

In retrospect, it was silly of me to overthink. But I am unfortunately an overthinker. How will I dance? How will I listen to music? How will I wear my earpiece? How will I feel free? I realised the question has always been in the wrong frame – it was never about me, but Him.

Here’s to hoping my path stays on track and my heart remains full and at peace with the decisions I have made for Allah swt.
